About
The Need
- Of the 820 million people living in severe poverty, 70% are women.
- There are 70 million child brides in the world, which comes to 1 out of 3 girls in developing countries. Girls are growing up with no skills to support themselves or their families should the need arise.
- In Africa alone, the average life-span of a woman is 63 years. The average number of children per woman is 4.8. And every 3 minutes an adolescent girl (15 – 19) was infected with HIV in 2017.
The Project
Convoy Women advocates for the poor and suffering and strives to bring strength and dignity to women and girls all over the world by encouraging them to realize their value and reach their potential through job training and education. Through Convoy of Hope’s Women’s Empowerment, women receive seed capital and tools to start their own businesses and girls learn about health, nutrition, the importance of staying in school, delaying marriage and that God loves them.
How To Help
Pray
Pray for impoverished and marginalized women and girls around the world…that they will be empowered to move beyond a life of poverty and become strong, healthy and independent in providing for the needs of their families.
